Making a Change for the Better

A Saltburn man swapped life in the fast lane as a sales director for a global software brand, and now has over 100 regular clients at his acupuncture clinics in Linthorpe (Middlesbrough) and Saltburn.

Mark Fielding described his lifestyle change. He said: “A typical week would see me fly off from Teesside to Heathrow airport very early on a Monday morning, spend four ridiculously busy days in London and the South East and, if I was lucky, try and get back to spend the weekend with my family.”

“A lot of my former work colleagues were going down like ninepins, simply due to the hectic lifestyle and sheer pressure of work. It got to the stage where I was haring around various motorways at 80mph while trying to eat a sandwich at the same time.”

“One day I just thought ‘hang on a minute’, and decided to make a change.”

Mark first discovered the benefits of acupuncture as a patient and decided to find out more. He subsequently completed an extensive four-year course in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York, and became a member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC).

Now, less than a year after setting up his first clinic, he has over 100 regular clients. Over 70% are women of all ages.

Mark said: “The treatments I offer really help to relieve muscle pains, stress, tension headaches, migraines and many other conditions as part of a holistic approach to a person’s individual well-being.”

“I know the difference that acupuncture made to my own life. I now have a fantastic work/life balance, great job satisfaction, and I look forward to every day.”

Mark holds regular clinics in Linthorpe (Middlesbrough) and Saltburn, with free initial consultations available for new patients.

Editor’s notes:

  • Acupuncture is an ancient system of healing which has been practised in China and other Eastern countries, the earliest books being written over 4,500 years ago. Although often described as a means of pain relief, it is in fact used to treat people with a wide range of illnesses. Its focus is on improving the holistic and overall well-being of the patient, rather than the isolated treatment of specific symptoms.

  • The British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) requires members to have a thorough knowledge of western medical science and traditional acupuncture, and to have demonstrated professional and clinical expertise. Appropriate qualifications from a recognised acupuncture college are essential.
