Acupuncture & Acupressure Massage |

|
Acupuncture treatment can be successfully combined with acupressure massage, and is coupled with needle therapy to include application of massage and manipulation to the body. Its value is perhaps greatest for people with physical problems.
Although a sprained ankle or lower back problem often responds to acupuncture alone, concurrent massotherapy greatly enhances the therapeutic effect. A sprained ankle, for example, involves damage to the meridians passing through the ankle, the flow of energy is impaired and accumulates - it is this that causes the swelling and the pain. Acupuncture at selected points on the meridians concerned 'activates' or 'opens' them, whilst massotherapy techniques physically disperse the congestion from the site of injury. The meridians, being 'open' are better fit to conduct this congestion away. More stubborn problems, such as frozen shoulder, are also well suited to this approach. |
